Film Synopsis
Marriage is important. Imagine going through the ups and downs as you advance up the ladder of life. Envision the disappointments and celebrations, the trials and triumphs. Is it better to do life alone?
Some people wait to get married. They think it's better to focus on their careers and get established before looking for a spouse. Others simply want to "enjoy" life before getting married.
And yet, many people cannot wait to walk down the aisle. They want that special someone with whom they'll share their life.
What exactly is marriage? To answer this question, we have to look past pop culture. We have to look at what marriage was designed to be and speak to those who have experienced its highs and lows.
In the documentary Marry Me, we do just that. We examine the foundation of marriage and talk to couples that have been together through thick and thin. They show us what a blessing marriage is and what it means to love each other the way Christ loves the church.
Life is better together.
Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him." - Genesis 2:18

Storyboard
Introduction - Goal: Set The Tone
In the introduction, we hear about the regret and remorse of those that finally “got it” about marriage. Gene Simmons and others married later in life and felt intense regret for not marrying sooner. They realized family and connection were much more important than career or fame. This is where we hear from Gene Simmons and others with the same types of stories.
Chapter 1 - Meet The Couples
Here, we begin introducing married couples. Various seasons of life. They talk about how they met, that first year of marriage, and what it was like. This is meant to be joyful, funny, and light-hearted and draw people into the characters.
Chapter 2 - The Trials And The Triumphs
Marriage is full of beautiful moments and challenging obstacles. Here, we begin to tell the tension of Marry Me. We dive into some reservations about marriage as it relates to their childhood. What have they faced as couples? What have they overcome? Joys and sorrows. For those who have re-married because of divorce, has divorce “fixed” it for some now that they are re-married? This leaves the audience with heavy hearts.
Chapter 3 - Goal: The Hope And Challenge
Marriage is something to be desired. Here we hear the hope in the couples that have had real challenges and have spoken about why they are still together. Why do they keep pushing on? We hear from a phycologist about the stability marriage brings home, finances, and mental and physical health. Pastors offer the biblical view of marriage. The inspiration of these thoughts, stories, and articles about marriage rates, leave the viewer inspired. To desire marriage, to fight through the challenges in their marriage. And for those re-married or in their later years of marriage, it encourages them to walk with and support those who need it. Here, we learn truly what it means to love each other the way Christ loves the church.
Conclusion - Goal: Inspires The Audience To Take Charge Of Their Lives.
Whatever examples you had growing up about marriage, that doesn’t have to be you and your marriage going forward. This is a final message to all. Youth who are in high school, young men and women who are dating, and those who are married or re-married. This conclusion is meant to inspire others to be for marriage, empower them to take charge of their own life and marriage, and remind the audience of the Christ-centered purpose of marriage and the light that it can be for our world.
